Turtle Rescue of North Carolina (EIN# 99-5117704) is a non profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of sick and injured native NC turtles, reptiles, and amphibians. TRoNC was founded in May 2024 by our Executive Director, Ashley McEntire.
Ashley lives in Indian Trail with her husband, two daughters, and multitude of rescue pets. Graduating from the University of NC at Pembroke with a degree in Business Administration, wildlife rehabilitation was not something she even knew existed, finding the field by chance.
Having always loved animals, even as a small child, she grew up bringing home lost pets and kissing all the toads (looking for her prince, of course). As an adult, she spent many years fostering companion animals with various organizations, and after finding an injured wild bird in need of help she was led to action and found that there were organizations devoted to helping wild animals in need. She began volunteering at large rehab centers in her area gaining valuable experience and mentoring under other licensed rehabbers, exotic veterinarians, and other animal enthusiast quickly falling in love with rehab and all the animals that needed someone to care. Gaining her wildlife rehabilitation license in 2017 she has worked with thousands of wild animals ranging from songbirds, birds of prey, small mammals, snakes, amphibians, and of course turtles!
Reptiles have always held a special place in her heart and seeing a need for an organization whom specializes in turtles and other reptile species in her area, Turtle Rescue of North Carolina was born.
